A fantastic evening with the ‘Fisher King’

Our Tuesday Sounds Evening got off to a brilliant start with the MD of Amersham Band, Paul Fisher. Paul has led the band in their promotion from the fourth section of the brass banding world to the Championship Section, along the way qualifying the band for the National Finals on no fewer than six occasions. Paul is lead teacher in Brass for Hertfordshire Music Service and is also Principal Conductor of the Hertfordshire County Youth Brass – a role he has held since 2009.

Paul outlined his background and how he started in banding and how he got into conducting. He came up with lots of ideas for recuritment and retention and how things are done at Amersham band. At the end of the session there was an inspired Q and A session which brought about a lively and productive band discussion afterwards.
