Karen started playing the Tenor Horn at the age of 7 in her local school band which was then Knottingley Schools Band . As the band members got older the name changed to Knottingley Concert Brass which then Karen moved over to play Baritone.
As her interest in music continued to grow she wanted to challenge herself further. She therefore made the decision to supplement her playing at Knottingley Concert Brass and chose to additionally join a contesting band.
Karen joined Crofton Silver Band 1995 playing 1st Baritone. After a 6 year spell with Crofton she moved to Wakefield Metropolitan Band.
After taking time off to have twins she then took up a new challenge at South Milford Brass Band once again on Baritone. The pinnacle of her time with South Milford was when they won the National Finals at Cheltenham in 2012 (2nd section).
2016 Karen joined Lofthouse 2000 taking up a new challenge playing Euphonium. Karen continues to enjoy her time at Lofthouse and is looking forward to the National Finals.
